Since 2003, Schmiede Hallein is an Austrian non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing digital culture and interdisciplinary collaboration at the intersection of art, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Its core activity is the annual Schmiede working festival, a ten-day international prototyping event in Hallein, Austria, where a historic industrial site becomes a collaborative production environment for artists, technologists, and designers. Each year, several hundred participants from across Europe develop experimental artistic and technological projects in self-organised teams. Schmiede fosters capacity building, cross-sector knowledge exchange, and transnational collaboration, contributing to innovation and digital transformation within the European cultural and creative industries.
