Renonce (CAN)
Renonce (Montréal, QC) forcefully shatters silence, emptiness and absurdity, using exceedingly brutal electronic manipulations to create a sound-based therapeutic idiom akin to industrial, darkwave and noise.
Combining aggressive drum machines, saturated synthesizers and distorted guitars, Frédéric Nogarède (Adam Strangler, Trstss, Dédoublement) divulges a gloomy sonic outlet, punctuated by lyrics that are doused in sarcasm, nihilism and fatalism, whether coldly sang or savagely yelled. Following the release of their cathartic debut, Ombre (April 4th, 2023), Renonce played concerts in Canada, adding a handful of dates in France, and sharing the stage with the likes of Odonis Odonis, The Pleasure Dome and Total Chroma. Produced alongside Annie-Claude Deschênes from Duchess and PyPy, mixed and mastered by Odonis Odonis, and featuring a guest appearance by goth singer Laura Krieg, Nuisance sonore (April 12th, 2024 via Verboden & Negative Gain), the new opus by the Montréal artist is even faster, noisier and violenter than its predecessor.
